Poaching is a big problem for animals around the world, causing animal numbers to decrease. Poaching means: the illegal practice of trespassing on another’s property to hunt or steal game without the landowner’s permission. The reason that people poach is usually for money. A Grizzly Bear’s hide and claws can go for $15.00 in China! There were 20,000 (estimated) elephants poached in 2012, 3,200 wild tigers, and 100 elephants poached every day! Some poachers poach just for fun as in shooting more than the limit on some animals. On the Serengeti Plain in Tanzania Africa, There were 1,300,000 gnu, 60,000 zebras, 150,000 gazelles poached. As well as in 2012 668 rhinos were poached along with 2,500 elephants poached in 2011 and there was 23 tons of ivory confiscated. This is just a little bit of information on poaching.
